Marvel Set to Ditch Online Slots

Marvel slots could soon be a thing of the past

Comic book distributor Marvel shocked the online gaming industry this week by announcing that it would not be looking to extend its licensing deals with online slot developers once they expire.

The news is a massive blow to slot developers such as Playtech who have enjoyed huge success through releasing Marvel-themed slots including Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and The Avengers.
It has not yet been established why Marvel has made the decision to withdraw from the online slots genre but it is believed that the move comes in co-ordination with Marvel’s determination to be seen as a more family friendly group.
Marvel was bought by Disney in 2009 for more than $4.4 billion and ever since the purchase it has appeared to be targeting the family market more enthusiastically with this slots withdrawal further emphasis of this approach.
