Newcastle United Owner Mike Ashley is well known for spending millions on wages for departed managers, but a recent story in The Sun suggests he also likes blowing his cash at the casino.
Ashley reportedly spent over £1 million in less than two hours at the craps tables in the Aspers Casino, near St James' Park. He was out on a night out with the new first team coach Alan Pardew according to The Sun.
Onlookers were amazed as they watched Ashley initially start out well and was £130,000 up at one point, but then his luck ran out and he ended up £970,000 down. He didn't seem to fazed, tipping the dealer £700.
A source told The Sun: "It was incredible. He lost a million quid in not much longer than it takes to play a football match but left with a smile on his face."
"He was placing bets all over with £1000 and £5000 chips. It only took him about ten minutes to lose £30,000".
Ashley is unlikely to be bothered by the loss as his net worth is belived to be around £890,000.
